Introduction

Wang Weide, courtesy name Hongxu, nickname Dongting Shanren. Born in 1669 (eighth year of Emperor Kangxi of Qing Dynasty) and died in 1749 (fourteenth year of Emperor Qianlong of Qing Dynasty). A native of Ciliwan, Dongting West Mountain, Wuxian County, Suzhou Prefecture, Jiangsu Province. In 1709 (the forty-eighth year of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty), Wang Hongxu compiled and completed the famous work “Divination Authentic”, which annotated the “Golden Policy” written by Liu Bowen, the founding official of the Ming Dynasty, and “discovered” and compared the previously circulated six-line divination theory. “Debate” also collects all kinds of enlightenment formulas, explains the hexagrams and cases by question and answer, is ingenious and concentrates on the essence. However, its shortcomings are also obvious. For example, most of the hexagrams and examples are plagiarized and adapted from “Addition and Deletion of Bu Yi”, and some of “Golden Policy” are plagiarized, deleted and revised from “Divination Quanshu”, and new mistakes are added due to lack of rigor. In view of this, Mr. Li Fanding (Ding Sheng) has spent more than 30 years studying hexagrams, which lasted nearly four years. He took the first printed edition of Fengwulou “Divination Authentic” as the base, and the Ming Chongzhen Explanation of Yizhai and Ming Chongzhen’s Tan Yizhai. The collection of ancient and modern books in Qing Dynasty “Divination Quanshu” and Xinyitang “Quanben Annotation Addition and Deletion of Bu Yi” are the main school editions. With reference to more than 200 kinds of official histories, local chronicles, class books, chronicles, notes, etc., the “Divination Authentic” has been comprehensively collated and annotated. “Quanben Xiaozhu Chuke Divination Authentic” accurately annotates rare words, traces the source of allusions and historical facts, puts forward corrections for errors in the original work and “Divination Quanshu” and “Golden Policy”, and makes supplements to deleted texts record. In addition, it also makes a detailed textual research and evaluation of Wang Hongxu’s family, life and writings, analyzes the authorship of “Golden Policy” and the advantages and disadvantages of various versions of “Divination Quanshu”, and discusses other books related to Wang Hongxu. The biography and preface in the book have been sorted out.
