Introduction

“Zhou Bi Suan Jing” is the earliest mathematics handed down in China Work, but also a work of astronomy. In ancient China, there were three theories in astronomy according to the different cosmic models proposed. “Gaitian theory” is one of them, and “Zhoubi Suanjing” is the representative of “Gaitian theory”. This school of thought holds that the sky is like a hat, and the earth is like a pot (the sky is like a bamboo hat, and the earth is like an overturned pot). According to textual research, the current version of “Zhou Bi Suan Jing” was probably written in the Western Han Dynasty (the first century BC). The handed down edition (1213) of the Southern Song Dynasty is the earliest edition handed down to date. Many mathematicians in the past dynasties have made annotations to this book, the most famous of which is the annotations made by Tang Li Chunfeng and others. “Zhoubi Suanjing” was also introduced to Korea and Japan, where there are also many reprinted and annotated editions. Judging from the content of mathematics included, the book mainly describes the methods of learning mathematics, using the Pythagorean theorem to calculate advanced and far-reaching and relatively complex fraction calculations, etc.
