Introduction

The ancients paid great attention to choosing the time to act. It was quite mature in the Song Dynasty, and monographs were published. The “Summary of Three Calendars” compiled in the Song Dynasty is divided into three parts: the auspicious days of each month from January to December (such as marriage, marriage proposal, gift giving, travel, etc.), the picture of good and bad luck in Wantong calendar, and the picture of good and bad luck in Wantong calendar. This publication is the largest private bookstore in the late Ming Dynasty.

This book is divided into three parts. The first part of the shop notes the auspicious days of each month from January to December, and they are arranged in the same order. The auspicious days are, in order, marriage, proposal, gift giving, traveling, sailing (some are also referred to as “boats”), admiral, construction, building, ground breaking, house moving, burial day, service day, removal of clothes, Litigation, store opening, wine making, koji sauce and vinegar, market shopping, bed netting, clothing tailoring, school admission, prayer, and farming. But not every month has the above-mentioned auspicious days, for example, in July, there are no auspicious days for removing clothing, auspicious days for Ci Lian, opening a shop, making wine, koji, sauce and vinegar, Shijia, setting up bed nets, and auspicious tailoring. Among the various auspicious days of each month, there are several items that specifically indicate the reasons for choosing these auspicious days. The second part is the picture of good and bad luck in the Wantong calendar, also known as the big hexagram of Zongtian. Regardless of the year, month and day, and not afraid of various taboos, the date of death must not be used. Those who meet Jiqing, Youwei, Mande, and Lively are lucky, and those in the black circle are the most auspicious. Those who meet the white characters are the day of death and cannot be used. Under the remaining eight stars, such as killing stars, lucky stars, and evil stars meet white characters, it is also the day of death.
